Translocation is a word for moving something across a boundary or to a new site, and several fields use it:
- Translocation (nanopore), the passage of a molecule through a pore from one side of a membrane to the other, recorded as a dip in the ionic current
- Chromosomal translocation, in genetics, a rearrangement in which a piece of one chromosome breaks off and joins another; the Philadelphia chromosome of chronic myeloid leukemia, reported in 1960 as an unusually small chromosome and shown in 1973 to result from an exchange between chromosomes 9 and 22, was the first chromosomal abnormality linked to a specific cancer
- Protein translocation, in cell biology, the transport of a protein across a membrane, as when a newly made protein enters the endoplasmic reticulum through the Sec61 channel
- Translocation in plants, the movement of sugars and other solutes through the phloem from the leaves where they are made to the tissues that use them
- Species translocation, in conservation, the deliberate moving of living animals or plants from one area to another to found, restore or reinforce a population
- The relocation of a business; Molecular Reality Corporation has worked from at least six places since 2015, listed in Locations of Molecular Reality Corporation
