Molecular TV, abbreviated MTV, was the homepage of Molecular Reality Corporation in the first months of 2025.[1] It offered a searchable collection of "Molecular TV entries" in front of a turning collage of pictures, the animated tesseracts that the company called texteracts. The company built it in the same months as a portal at molstream.com for its handheld "MR1 Molecular Streaming Device". Neither is online today, and the homepage survives as a single screen capture.

History

The name is older than the homepage. A version of the company's 2021 advertisement "We're on an epic quest", kept in its files, tells readers that the console needs only itself and "MolecularTV.com™", the place "where a global tribe of molecular gamers will gather to solve biology". The version that the company reproduced in its December 2022 overview has "our online portal" instead.[1][2]

Work on the homepage ran from January to May 2025, and by February it included the turning hypercube.[1] In the same period the company built molstream.com, which introduced the MR1 Molecular Streaming Device and a question desk staffed by the mascot Keltar; the desk later moved to a site of his own, keltar.ai. In April it began calling its game Epic Quest Bio in place of Epic Quest Biotechnology. The address epicquest.bio had been registered in March. For the company's other addresses, see Websites of Molecular Reality Corporation.

Interface

The screen capture, saved as a GIF of 40.5 MB with 353 frames at 1,920 by 1,080 pixels, is one of the Giant GIFs of Molecular Reality. At the top left is the company's hexagonal MR logo. Under a menu bar with a purple button marked PLAY, a line reads "Enter keywords above to search Molecular TV entries." Below it are a search box with the prompt "enter paper keywords to search..." and a green button labeled "science roulette".[1] Behind the controls, translucent yellow and blue panels covered in fragments of images turn through one another, and the word MOLECULAR passes across the top in yellow outline letters.

Name

MTV is also the abbreviation of Music Television, the American cable channel that began broadcasting on August 1, 1981. The first music video it showed was "Video Killed the Radio Star" by the Buggles. No company source comments on the abbreviation.

The company's interest in television did not end with the homepage. In 2022 its plans for the instrument software Maxine's Quest included a "Data TV", a screen showing the live current through the pore that could be switched to other channels, such as "2D histograms".[3] The version of the game released in 2026 replaced it with the Clay TV, a television set modeled in clay. In the spring of 2026 the company built Radio KENT, an internet radio station for its members, named after the founder. Later that year it began to stream the current through a pore on its laboratory bench to the public, as the live molecular stream.

Molecular TV belongs to a family of names built on molecular streaming, the company's term since 2024 for molecules passing through a sensor and data passing to the people who watch it. The others include molstream, a short form adopted in January 2025, and the Molecular Streaming Corps, the company's volunteers.[1]
