This page explains how to find your way around Molecupedia, the encyclopedia of very small things. For what Molecupedia is and who writes it, see Molecupedia:About.

Finding an article

The Main Page carries a featured article, a column of "Did you know" items, the news and an "On this day" section, which changes with the date. The main menu, behind the icon of three lines at the top left, links to it and to "Random article", which opens an article chosen at random and is the fastest way into the subject. Two portals list articles by theme: Portal:Nanopores for the science and Portal:Molecular Reality for the company.

The search box at the top of every page suggests titles as you type. If what you typed is the exact title of a page, the search goes straight to it; otherwise the last suggestion, "Search for pages containing", searches the text of every page.

Links in blue lead to pages that exist. Links in red lead to pages that have not been written yet. When Molecupedia opened on October 25, 2026, most of the links on its front page were red, and they turn blue as the pages are published.

Reading an article

An article opens with the line "From Molecupedia, the encyclopedia of very small things" under its title, sometimes a hatnote pointing to a page of a similar name, and often an infobox on the right. The table of contents sits beside the text on a wide screen and behind a button on a narrow one. Small raised numbers are references, listed at the foot of the page; raised letters are notes, which is where many of the drier remarks are kept.

Some articles carry banners. The one on Molecular Reality Corporation that warns of a conflict of interest was put there by the company, about itself, and Molecupedia:Conflict of interest explains why it stays.

At the top of every page are tabs for the page and its talk page, where editors with invented usernames argue about real facts. For a start, try Talk:Molecular Reality Corporation or Talk:Nanopore. The History tab lists edits by the same editors.

Appearance

The Appearance menu at the top right sets three things: text size (Small, Standard or Large), width (Standard or Wide) and color (Automatic, Light or Dark). Automatic follows the setting of your device. Your browser remembers the choices for the next visit. A link at the foot of every page switches to the layout for phones.

Citing and printing

"Cite this page", in the Tools menu, gives a ready-made citation of the page. "Download as PDF" and "Printable version" in the same menu open your browser's print dialog, from which a PDF can be saved.

Editing

Molecupedia cannot be edited. Where Wikipedia has an "Edit" tab, each page here has "View source", which shows the page's wikitext and nothing more. The "Log in" link leads to a page that reads "Log in is not available" and explains that Molecupedia is read-only. "Create account" leads to a page that says that Molecupedia does not have accounts, and "Upload file" to one that says uploads are disabled.

A reader who finds a mistake can still have it fixed. The company asks to hear about any false sentence, and its address is on Molecupedia:About.
